The PCWS worships at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Special worship services are offered on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunday (additional services at sunrise and 11:15 a.m.), Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve (5 and 11 p.m.).
A Christmas Pageant is usually held on the Sunday evening before Christmas. Summer time provides opportunities for outdoor worship, a hiatus for the choirs and the chance to hear soloists and ensembles. SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP Our hour-long worship service provides an opportunity for us to gather a family of faith for a service grounded in the Reformed tradition. The Chancel Choir sings at most services from September-June. The Children's Choirs and Handbell Choir for youth and adults also participate in leading worship on many Sundays during the school year. Guest musicians including brass, timpani and strings provide special music through our year. Each worship service follows a traditional format of hymns, prayer, anthems, Words for Children, scripture, sermon and offering. Joys and concerns are shared during the service, allowing friends and members to be aware of prayer requests and opportunities for learning and service in Christ's name. Communion is celebrated once a month, on the first Sunday of the month. Additionally, communion is celebrated on Maundy Thursday and at the 11:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service. An Activity Center is offered to school-age children after the "Words for Children" -- about one-third through the service. Children leave the sanctuary to learn through activity about faith. Once a month, Christian Educators provide a special Kids' Worship experience to help teach children about the elements of worship at age appropriate levels. Nursery and Sunday School for infants, toddlers and Preschoolers are available every Sunday during worship. |
