Ten
Things You Can Do to Save the Planet
- Recycle! PCWS accepts all sorts of aluminum. Deposit
them in the Sextons’ office.
We recycle them and the proceeds are shared with hunger relief projects.
- Donate! The Mission collection box is now available to accept your
donations of clothing and household goods, and the proceeds from
the sale of those items benefit PCWS mission projects.
- Recycle
some more! See what your local community accepts for recycling.
The Village of Western Springs accepts paper, cardboard, glass and
plastic. Commit to recycling something more than you already do.
- Reduce. Cut down on waste by only buying what you need. Share with
others things that you only use rarely. Buy items with little
packaging, so that less packaging ends up in the trash.
- Reduce
some more! Reduce hazardous waste. Check your local paper (and Glad
Tidings) for hazardous waste days.
- Think before you throw. Can
you use an item for another purpose? Paper or plastic bags from the
grocery store have alternative uses.
Consider them
before throwing them away.
- Waste not… turn off your water
instead of letting it run while you wash dishes, brush your teeth,
etc.
- Reduce your carbon footprint…save energy by switching
some or all of your inefficient, incandescent light bulbs.
- Walk!
Save energy by walking, bike riding, or taking public transportation.
Walk or ride your bike to church!
- Rethink! What earth-friendly
action can you take or make today?
