Adults The Presbyterian Church of Western Springs believes in
nurture, growth, and learning in the faith for all ages.
We have many programs for ADULTS to continue their education. They include...
- An
Adult Education Class meets most Sunday mornings
at 10:55 in the Graham Charter Room, unless otherwise indicated.
See the church calendar or our church newsletter for a current
list of offerings. The Christian Education Committee presents classes
designed to nurture and grow your spirituality. All are
welcome to join the discussion even if regular attendance is not
possible. Please feel free to drop in whenever you have the opportunity to do so.
- An Evening Edition of Adult Education meets
on Sunday evenings at 7:00 pm for 1.5 hours, providing an opportunity
for church school teachers, choir members and anyone else who would
prefer a Sunday
evening
class.
Class information
is available in the weekly bulletin or the church newsletter.
- Weekly
Bible studies are offered on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings
- Faith Stepping Stones, a family ministry system that is offered periodically
to assist parents in faith nurture.
- The Seekers Class, designed to introduce new and prospective
members to the life and ministry of this congregation. This class
meets three times a year.
- A monthly book club, ordinarily meeting on the fourth
Wednesday evening of each month. Check the website calendar for current
schedule and readings.
- Prayer Shawl ministry The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a mission and fellowship opportunty for all
knitters and crocheters or those interested in learning. It is offered
by Presbyterian Women to all women and friends of the church.
The ministry gives comfort to those in need of special concern through
the gift of a hand-knitted or crocheted shawl. Instructions are
provided, using very simple stiches. The shawls are distributed to the
recipients by the Board of Deacons.
Meetings are held twice a month on the first and third Mondays from 7:00
to 8:00 p.m. in the Graham Charter Room at PCWS. The work can be done
at home but one of the pleasures of the ministry is the fellowship and
sense of community that is gained in gathering together.

Interfaith Dialogue
The Presbyterian Church of Western Springs has a
long-established tradition of being in dialogue
with persons of
other faiths and in 2006 we recommit
ourselves to deepening our understanding of other
faiths while holding to the convictions of the Christian faith.
Our commitment
extend
to include
interfaith dialogue as the focus for our congregation’s portion of
the Peacemaking Offering in 2005. This year, we will be beginning new dialogue
between Presbyterians and Baha’is, Presbyterians
and Muslims, and Presbyterians and members of the
Jewish faith. As we explore
the traditions
of other faiths, we will surely come to a deeper
understanding of our own faith and its richness.
Dinners for 7,8, 9 is a social fellowship opportunity
for both singles and couples.Small groups (of 7, 8 or 9) meet monthly
for brunch or dinner
and a good time. The groups meet monthly either at member
homes or at local restaurants. The decision on when and where
to meet is decided by each individual group. There are usually
four
or five different groups meeting during the year. This framework provides
an occasion for members and friends to get to know each other on a
more
personal level and to build new friendships. It’s
a chance to partake in good food, good fellowship and good company. If
you would like to join a group or would just like more information,
please call the church office at 708.246.5220.
Presbyterian Women meet as a group for a monthly
gathering, then in small groups for Bible Study. Please see
calendar for details
or call the church
office for more information. Click
